If you need a truck for towing, whether it’s for work or for
fun, the RAM trucks are the industry standard.
The RAM 1500 was just named the 2014 Motor Trend “Truck of
the Year”, for the second consecutive year. That’s the first time that any make
of truck has been awarded the top vehicle in consecutive years, a testament to
the RAM’s technical side as well as the comfort and security features you’ll
find in the cab.
The RAM 1500 features the 5.7 HEMI V8 and includes Best in
Class Mileage with 18mpg city and 25mpg highway. The maximum towing capacity is
10,450 pounds, enough for a lightweight travel trailer or ATVs. (When
calculating towing capacity, always read the manufacturer’s recommendations for
the tow vehicle and the item being towed, and allow additional capacity to accommodate
the contents as well.)
The RAM 2500 also
offers best in class towing, up to 17,950 pounds with a 5.7l HEMI V8. Trailer
brake control comes standard. A 17,000-lb Class V Trailer Tow Hitch is also
standard. The RAM 2500 starts at just $29,785.
The RAM 3500 has up to 30,000 pounds of towing capacity with
a 6.7l Cummins turbo diesel engine available . Remote entry, trailer brake
control and power doors come standard, as well as other features.
Towing and payload weights affect each other, so choosing
the right truck depends on what and how you’ll be towing. Don’t rely on the max
payload and max towing numbers by themselves, but at the truck’s GCVW to
determine the total weight the vehicle can handle. If you’ll be carrying a
heavy payload, the trailer weight should be lighter. Visit www.ramtruck.com/towingguide for
