Avenger: Great Deals on a Family Sized Sedan

The mid-size sedan category has a lot of competition today, and the 2014 Dodge Avenger at Melloy Dodge in Albuquerque is a real contender against the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Nissan Altima with up to 30 mpg on the highway and 283 horsepower.

The 2014 Avenger has the powerful Chrysler Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine. Inside, the interior has been updated, and the 2014 Avenger has a retuned suspension. The car’s design echoes the full-size Charger sedan, with a cross-hair grille and the beefed-up "shoulder" ahead of the rear fender. The Avenger’s a smaller, front-wheel-drive car, but obviously a member of the same family as its larger Charger cousin, and carries that car's hint of muscle.

Inside, Dodge has updated the cabin appointments with a little more polish and nicer detailing with soft-touch materials around the dash.

The 2014 Avenger might look small at first glance, but it's about the same size as a Sonata or Optima. Front seats are comfortably wide; in back you’ll find ample legroom.

Melloy Dodge has reduced prices on the top-of-the-line R/T model; it features leather and heated seats to the SXT options list for 2013. The base Avenger SE is nicely appointed and includes air conditioning; power windows, locks and mirrors; 17-inch wheels; a split-folding rear seat; and cloth upholstery. The SXT adds a power driver's seat, 17-inch alloys, fog lamps, leather trim, automatic climate control, heated mirrors, and more. A Bluetooth hands-free interface is lacking from much of the lineup, but satellite radio and a USB port are standard or optional on all models, and a navigation system is now offered on the Avenger, as is a Boston Acoustics premium sound system.

Avenger includes the 2.4-liter, 173-horsepower four-cylinder and four-speed automatic or the 283-horsepower, 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6.
