General Towing Tips With Your RAM

Melloy Dodge is one of the first to welcome Spring, and we love when our customers welcome Spring with a new RAM! In our previous blog, we discussed towing capacities for each base model of our RAMs. Now, let’s go over general towing tips, so you and your family can get safely from point A to point B.

One of our RAM technicians who also pulls a fifth wheel has given us some things for you to consider. One of the first things you should do is check your tire pressure and mirrors before hitting the road. Then, when pulling a camper, trailer, or fifth wheel, is that you need to leave distance between you and any other vehicles on the road. It is going to take you much longer to stop than it would without towing anything. Be sure to speak to one of our extremely knowledgeable sales associates on current technology and adaptions to your RAM that makes towing safer and more reliable.

Speaking of current technology, most of our RAM trucks are equipped with forward collision warning sensors that are located on the front of the truck that continuously monitors the vehicle in front of you and will alert you to sudden changes in speed. In the RAM 3500, if the vehicle in front of you brakes hard and you don’t react quickly, the truck will automatically apply the brake for you! Another safety feature that makes towing with RAM more reliable, is the target tire pressure alert system. You can set tire pressure changes for each tire and the truck will alert you to those changes if they happen and can be also be used to alert you when you are filling the tires and have met optimal tire pressure! This feature extends to the tires of the camper, trailer, or fifth wheel that you are towing.

RAM strives to take the safety of you, your passengers, and others on the road into consideration. While towing equipment can be added, RAM makes it easier for you to confidently and safely get to your desired destinations. Melloy Dodge stocks all makes and models of RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500. Come in today and test drive your new RAM truck!
