Routinely rotating your tires allows wear to spread evenly across all four tires, so they last longer and have even tread. Rotating tires also improves braking performance because it keeps the tread depth on your tires uniform, which helps ensure traction. · Radial tires have a series of steel wire-strand cords that are arranged specifically for the direction of travel. There is only one tire rotation that is recommended for radial tires and that’s front to rear/rear to front. The reason behind this is that radial tires are directional and cannot be rotated side to side or crossed.

· However, tires that are not radials may be rotated from side to side or in the typical X pattern since they are non-directional.

· Do not, however, rotate the spare tire into the mix. Tread depth is important to the safe handling of your vehicle and adding in a tire with different tread-depth may make your drive and braking unsafe.
