Dodge at the SEMA Show through the Years

Dodge has sent some memorable show cars and concepts to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas over the years.  With the 2012 show set to open next week, let’s take a look back at a few highlights from the annual performance industry trade show.

For the 2006 show, Dodge set the car biz on its ear with the Challenger Super Stock (above). The production Challengers were not even in the showrooms yet, but Dodge was already signaling its intentions to rule the drag strips with this red, white, and blue prototype. After SEMA, the race-prepped Challenger became the proof of concept vehicle for Dodge’s Drag Pak program.

The 2002 Dodge Stratus Turbo SEMA Concept, above, featured deep Cobalt Blue paint, 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, a custom nose, and a functional hood scoop. But the not-so-secret ingredient was a 2.4L engine and turbocharger package that developed 240 hp.

The Dodge Avenger Tuner Stormtrooper turned heads at SEMA 2009 with pearl white exterior paint, matching wheels, and a custom splitter and rear spoiler. Four bucket seats borrowed from a Charger SRT8 provided the interior comfort, while a 4.0L V6 from the Dodge Nitro supplied the push. And you can be sure the Dodges at SEMA this year will be equally special.
